I’ve always been pretty gung-ho about cosmetic surgery, but some people never imagine themselves going under the knife for non-medical reasons. A close friend of mine was like that – she never understood all the fuss about cosmetic surgery – until her life took an unexpected turn and she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She survived her disease after several years of grueling treatment, which unfortunately culminated in a double mastectomy.
